Update #7 - 22 days ago

Thanks to the ongoing support of our donors, Poly has begun to expediently address the critical and emergent needs of our campus and community. The Poly Relief Fund has provided meaningful assistance in the following ways thus far:

  • Enhancing campus health and safety measures, such as installing air purifiers in every classroom, with power washing and other cleanliness methods in process
  • Providing emergency housing
  • Procuring furniture, supplies and basic necessities
  • Providing meals and lunch subsidies
  • Offering recovery stipends
  • Expanding mental health support services for all of our community

Inspired by the generosity and urgency behind this effort, the Board of Trustees has voted to expand the Relief Fund’s scope to support our school and our community affected by this emergency and provide critical assistance to Poly in the event of future disasters.

About

The Poly Relief Fund was established to provide immediate support to current students, families, faculty, and staff affected by the Southern California wildfires of January 2025. This fund aims to address urgent and ongoing needs such as temporary housing, essential supplies, and critical assistance as our community recovers from challenges like this.

Inspired by the generosity and urgency behind this effort, the Board of Trustees has voted to expand the Relief Fund’s scope to support our school and our community affected by this emergency and provide critical assistance to Poly in the event of future disasters.

At Poly, we are more than a school—we are a family. This fund reflects our commitment to standing together through challenging times. Every contribution, no matter the size, will directly aid those in our community who need it most.

Update #6 - a month ago

A few days back on the Poly campus, and while we are still working toward a true sense of normalcy, it has been wonderful to see our students return.

There is still much work ahead. The challenges we face are not confined to this moment—we anticipate they will continue to unfold over time. Faculty, staff, and families may encounter unexpected difficulties, some not yet realized. Through it all, we remain committed to supporting one another, with the Poly Relief Fund stepping in to address these challenges as they arise.

There are not enough words to express our gratitude—thank you, a million times over, to our incredible Poly community for stepping up and continuing to show unwavering support during this critical time.

Update #5 - a month ago

Today, school was in session, and the familiar sounds of students filled our campus. It was heartwarming to see our Upper School faculty and staff sharing “Poly Strong” stickers - a powerful moment of unity and resilience.

Yesterday, Lower and Middle School Psychologist Clint Daniels provided thoughtful guidance to help our faculty and staff navigate through this challenging time. The return to routine has brought a sense of comfort to many, offering reassurance during this difficult period.

Update #3 - a month ago

Yesterday’s community drive was an incredibly moving experience, as faculty, staff, parents, friends, family, and students came together in an inspiring show of support for our community. It was a beautiful reminder that community truly is at the heart of Poly, and we are profoundly blessed to be part of such a compassionate and generous network.

Even now, we are hearing about more members of our community who have been displaced, and our commitment to helping them remains steadfast. Together, we will continue to uplift and care for one another during this challenging time.

Update #2 - a month ago

We are deeply saddened to report that many members of our community have been impacted. As of today, ten faculty and staff have lost their homes, another eight have homes which were heavily damaged, and over fifty are currently evacuated. Many of these individuals are staying with friends or area hotels as they wait to hear about that status of their homes. Many others in the wider community are also displaced due to hazardous conditions and mandatory evacuations.
